grounding.

i wonder. 

if the day i finally feel 

completely grounded, 

i will be six feet underfoot. 

 

will there come a time

that i’ve finally crawled out 

of my contentious skin 

and let the salt of the 

earth consume me

in my exhausted entirety. 

 

will she keep me?

 

will flowers or weeds sprout

in the place i once lay,

shrouded in shadows 

of a soul too burdened.
